Romelu Lukaku insists he has not erred in his goal celebration against former club Everton on Sunday; adding that it was just a bit of ‘banter’.

Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial and Lukaku were all on the scoresheet as Jose Mourinho’s men romped to a 4-0 win over the Toffees.

The Belgian forward put his hand to his ear to silence traveling Toffees fans after scoring Manchester United’s third of the game.

Lukaku admitted he was happy with his goal but dismissed any ill feeling towards his old club.

“I mean, it’s another goal and I’m happy with the win. It’s just a bit of banter, after the free-kick I missed,” Lukaku told Sky Sports. “We could have scored more in first half. We weren’t clinical enough.

“Everton created problems in midfield and the manager gave us tips at half-time of how to sort it.

“In second half, Everton had a lot of control but quality was the difference in the end.”

The win means United and City are level on points, goal difference and goals scored, meaning Pep Guardiola’s men are top of the league due to alphabetical order.
