A member of the Federal House of Representatives from Jigawa State, Hon. Sani Zorro has said the agitation for Biafra republic will fizzle out in the next six months because national politics will dilute the agitation as all focus will be on the politics.
He stated this during an interactive forum with the media in Kaduna yesterday.

According to him, the agitation came on board because of vacuum in the politics but when politicking is finally in full gear, when southern politicians will be visiting the north, and northern politicians visits the south everybody will forget about agitations.
He added that in every such situation as witnessed in most countries, national politics always consumed any sectional agitations, therefore the end of Biafra agitation is insight because it will die a natural death.

Hon. Zorro who is the former National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said in case the agitation survived then Kalu and his group will determined who occupies any government house in the south-east and who also represent them in the National Assembly because he has enormous supporters that are presently occupying streets of the south-east states.
The lawmaker who said he supported Biafra agitation and the quit notice from Northern youths said he’s reason was informed because leaders from the south-east refused to call the agitators to order.

So as a northerner he’s duty bound to support the northern youths who issued the quit notice to Igbos and he will only change his position if the south-east leaders do the same.

Speaking on President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence from office, Hon. Zorro said that the president has not breach any section of the constitution because he has done his constitutional right in line with Section 90 of the 1990 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by writing to the National Assembly informing them of his decision to seek medical attention abroad and he did not give specific time to be back.
“President Buhari also nominated his Vice President to act in his capacity, ensuring that there is no vacuum created in his absence because whatever Buhari will do, Professor Osinbajo can also do the same as Acting President.

“The different between Buhari’s case and that of late former president Umaru Yar’Adua is that the cabal around late Yar’Adua did not allow him to give power to his vice rather, they caged him and during his ailment the State was almost at standstill because no formal handover was made.

“We are aware that President Paul Biya of Cameroon spent six months in the hospital because of illness and when he returned he resumed back to his office. The same thing is that of the Algerian President Boutaflika. All we need to do as Nigerians now is to pray for his quick recovery,” he said.
