Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed the La Liga leaders are considering playing outside of Spain should Catalonia gain independence which could see them trying to join the Premier League or another of Europe’s biggest leagues.
Over 90 per cent of people have voted for a referendum as the region is on course to become independent.
He also confirmed the resignations of vice-president Carles Vilarrubi and numerous other staff members had been accepted.
He added: “What we witnessed in our country yesterday was inadmissible.
We demand respect for the people of Catalonia and we shall once again stand alongside its legitimate representatives.
We Catalans have won the right to be heard.
