It was a scary experience for the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, earlier this afternoon when he was ambushed at church by protesting members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The incident took place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ekwulobia, Anambra State, impeccable sources said.

“Governor Obiano had gone to the church to worship, only to be embarrassed by IPOB members in their hundreds, if not thousands, who stormed the church in their bus-loads, chanting ‘No election in Anambra on November 18’, one of the sources told AMi.

“The Governor had to be smuggled out by his security details,” the source said, indicating that the incident took place around noon.

Governor Obiano had recently dared IPOB, declaring that the group cannot stop the election in which he is seeking another four-year term. IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu had earlier decreed that the election will not hold but security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have insisted that the ballot will go ahead as scheduled.
