Police in Enugu have arrested a suspected gunrunner, who allegedly supplied AK-47 rifles to one herdsman, Ibrahim Adamu, who was earlier arrested.
The command’s spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement yesterday, said the suspect was apprehended through intelligence supplied to police operatives in 9th Mile Police Division, near Enugu.
According to him, “the suspect, who gave his name as Samaila Garuba Alhaji, alias Bakassi, was earlier implicated by Ibrahim Adamu as the one that sold the AK-47 rifle to him. But Alhaji escaped when he got the information about Adamu’s arrest. “It was gathered that luck, however, ran out of Bakassi, when he was trailed to a motor park situated at 9th Mile in Enugu early this morning (yesterday), where he was nabbed.”
Amaraizu added that the suspect had beenhelping police investigation.
