Ruud van Nistelrooy has admitted that he is a huge admirer of Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford.

The teenager broke into the Red Devils first team under Louis van Gaal two seasons ago and has since been a regular fixture in the starting line-up for the club.

Rashford has quickly earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young players.

And former Manchester United striker has admitted that he is a keen admirer of the young England international.

Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Van Nistelrooy said: “I watched him playing in the Under-19s against PSV. He was a huge talent even then.

“It’s amazing how he has developed so far. I couldn’t imagine that he would be playing in the first team just six months after I saw that game.

“And now he has won the Europa League, too! He has experienced such a quick development and that says something about his ability to learn. That’s a good characteristic to have.”

Rashford will be hoping to help Manchester United to challenge for the Premier League title this season after the Red Devils finished in sixth place in the table last term.

However, the teenager did help Manchester United to make it a positive first season under Jose Mourinho as the Red Devils won both the EFL Cup and Europa League.

Manchester United, who lost to Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup earlier this month, have brought in Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic so far this summer as Mourinho looks to assemble a team capable of winning the Premier League title this term.
