What Eden Hazard did after Newcastle 3-0 Chelsea was class

Chelsea may finish the season with an FA Cup trophy but they won’t be playing Champions League football during the 2018/19 campaign.

Antonio Conte’s side missed out on the chance to draw level with Liverpool on Wednesday after they could only draw 1-1 with Huddersfield.
It meant that their chances of overcoming Liverpool was extremely slim.
They had to beat Newcastle at St. James’ Park and hope Liverpool lost at home to Brighton.
It was never going to happen, was it?

Liverpool eased to a 4-0 victory, while Chelsea were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle.
Not exactly the preparation you want heading into an FA Cup final.

There may now be a fear over the future of some Chelsea players. Will they remain at Stamford Bridge without the prospect of Champions League football next season?
Well, the one player Chelsea fans might fear will jump ship is Eden Hazard.

The Belgian may not have had the best campaign in west London but there’s no doubt the 27-year-old is still one of the best players in European football.
But what he did after it was confirmed Chelsea won’t be playing Champions League football next season was brilliant.

Freelance journalist Dan Levene spotted that some Chelsea players tried going straight down the tunnel following their 3-0 loss to Newcastle but Hazard wasn’t having any of it and made sure they went over to thank the travelling fans for their support.
Here’s what happened: “One or two of Chelsea’s players try to bolt down the tunnel on full time, but Eden Hazard steps in to direct them to the away end. A half-hearted applause follows, for the fans who have made the longest trip of the domestic season. And then those paint-flecked shirts disappear.”
And that was backed up by the Evening Standard’s Simon Johnson who wrote: “A miserable title defence from #cfc finally comes to an appropriate end…#Hazard makes sure some his #cfc team-mates acknowledge the away fans who travelled a long way to see that poor display.”

Chelsea will now have to pick themselves up before they face Manchester United in the FA Cup final in just six days time.
Failure to win that trophy and a 5th placed finish will represent a bitterly disappointing campaign for Chelsea.
