Nnamdi Kanu has reportedly insisted that he is not backing down on his earlier call that there will be no election in the south east region starting with the scheduled Anambra election.

AMi earlier reported that the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) met with south east governors in Enugu Government House on Wednesday, August 30.

Also in attendance was His Royal Highness, Eze Israel Okwu Kanu, the father of the IPOB leader.

They also tried to convince him to allow the Anambra governorship election hold but that he resisted their pleas.

A source reported that Kanu “remained hell-bent” on having the republic of Biafra.

On the establishment of the Biafra Secret Service which he inaugurated in Abia state, Kanu reportedly explained to the governors that it was not “a terror group and does not bear weapons but was formed to monitor Igbo returning from the northern part of the country in the event of the expiration of the October 1 deadline of the quit notice issued to Ndigbo by the Arewa youths.”

The governors released a communique after the meeting saying there will be further dialogue with the IPOB leader.

Reading the communique after the meeting, the Ebonyi state Governor David Umahi stated: “The meeting agreed that these demands by IPOB should not be absolute, rather the south-east Governors shall immediately engage the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, and the entire leadership of IPOB to further meetings and dialogue with a view to quickening the resolutions of all issues amicably.”
