Coach Jose Mourinho insists he watched Leicester City’s 4-3 defeat at Arsenal three times to ensure Manchester United took control of the game.

The Portuguese boss was hoping to shut down Jamie Vardy and he had little joy against the defensive pairing of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, who have kept three clean sheets in the Premier League so far this season.

Vardy had scored twice in the opener against Arsenal earlier this month and Mourinho claimed he is one of the most dangerous players in the top flight.

Speaking about the game, Mourinho opened up about his tactics as he tried to control the game.

“We didn’t have many matches last season where we play 90 minutes with the control we have today,” Mourinho said. “Is Vardy a very dangerous player? I would say one of the most dangerous players in the Premier League, was he dangerous today? No.

“Why? Because we played so well to control that. Were Leicester very dangerous against Arsenal? Yes, they were, I watched the match three times. Were they today? No, because of us.

“So we had a very good and solid performance and after the penalty when we miss a penalty with half an hour to go normally there is a little collapse and a great period in the game and that didn’t happen. We kept creating, we kept playing in the game and getting corners and in the end it was a corner where we score the first goal.

“We are playing well, probably in some matches where we are not playing well probably we are going to be defensive and if in some matches the opponent is playing better than us we have to be pragmatic and realistic and defend but in these three matches we didn’t need that because the team was in good control. But I’m not getting carried away in these three matches, nine points is good, the 10-zero goal average is good, but three matches, no more than that.”

Mourinho has proven his tactics were a step ahead of Craig Shakespeare’s as he completely controlled the game.

His substitutes were fantastic as they all played a part in the victory and he’s guided the side to nine points out of nine.
